Sr.Col. At this very moment, there are 2,506 Chinese peacekeepers on active duty in seven peacekeeping task areas. China has sent 29 fleets to participate in escort missions in the Gulf of Aden, providing security for more than 6,500 Chinese and foreign vessels. China has formed a peacekeeping standby force of 8,000 people and helped train nearly 1,000 peacekeepers from other countries. As the top contributor of troops among the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and a main financial contributor in peacekeeping operations, China is recognized by the UN as “the key force in peacekeeping operations”. Sr.Col. Xu Jun also reviewed the fruitful achievements of China-Sweden military exchanges in recent years. He stressed that the two sides have maintained high-level exchanges and important mutual visits, while pragmatic cooperation in the fields of peacekeeping, think tanks and logistics continues to deepen.
