Ambassador Gui Congyou Attends the Almedalen Week

From July 1 to 5, Ambassador Gui Congyou attended the Almedalen Week in Visby, Gotland.

During Almedalen, Ambassador Gui made extensive exchanges with the Swedish government officials, local politicians, business people, media, and the general public, and introduced China’s development achievements in various fields in the past 40 years since reform and opening up, especially since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). He also introduced China’s national development strategy and new development vision established by the 19th CPC National Congress, China’s plan to further open up to the outside world, and its great potential and bright prospects of national development.

Ambassador Gui said that China and Sweden have highly complementary development strategies, which indicates a good foundation and great potential for greater friendly cooperation. The Chinese side is willing to expand and deepen friendly exchanges and cooperation in various fields with the Swedish side, so as to better stimulate high-quality development of both sides, improve the standard of living and quality of life of the two peoples, and jointly safeguard world peace, security and stability.

People from various sectors of the Swedish community spoke highly of China’s rapid changes and great development prospects. They expressed their willingness to consolidate the traditional friendship between two countries and the two peoples, expand and deepen the pragmatic cooperation in fields such as innovation, new energy, biopharmaceuticals, aerospace, investment, trade and regional development. They also said that they are willing to strengthen people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, enhance mutual knowledge, understanding and trust, and promote sound and stable development of China-Sweden relations.
