Ambassador Gui Congyou Hosts Reception Marking the Mid-Autumn Festival and His Assumption of Office for the Chinese Community in Sweden

On 4 October, Ambassador Gui Congyou hosted a reception marking the Mid-Autumn festival and his assumption of office for the local Chinese community, Chinese-funded institutions and Chinese students studying in Sweden. Executive President of the Chinese National Association in Sweden Ye Peiqun, President of the Chinese Confederation of Industry and Commerce in Sweden Wang Jianrong, President of the Chinese Association in Stockholm Liu Shaohui, President of the Qingtian Association of Sweden Ye Kexiong, and over 300 other distinguished guests attended the event.

In his warm remarks, Ambassador Gui spoke highly of the important contributions the local Chinese community, Chinese-funded institutions and Chinese students have made to the friendly relations between China and Sweden. Ambassador Gui said that the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) would soon be held. Under new circumstances, the Chinese Embassy would fully implement the guidelines and policies on overseas Chinese-related work formulated by the CPC Central Committee and the central task would be to adhere to the principles of being close and clean. Embassy staff must display family affection, value bonds and friendship, and maintain frequent communication and exchanges with the local Chinese community, while abiding by the principles of openness and impartiality.

Ambassador Gui hoped that the local Chinese community would make united efforts to firmly support the great cause of the reunification of China, firmly support the maintenance of social stability in China, firmly support the country's development and prosperity and to resolutely oppose any anti-China separatist activities in any form, by any people and at any place. Ambassador Gui hoped that the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Sweden could strengthen communication and consultation with all walks of life, especially the business sector in Sweden to actively push forward practical cooperation between China and Sweden and reward local communities. He also hoped that the Chinese students would study hard and be committed to innovation, and expressed support for them to start career in Sweden or pursue development in China after they complete their study.

During the reception, Chinese artists gave improvised performances. Attendants highly commended the China's great achievements in economic and social development and the fruitful outcomes of China-Sweden friendly cooperation. Everyone present expressed their best wishes for the prosperity of China, the happy life of the Chinese people and the ever-lasting friendship between China and Sweden and their two peoples.
