Q: I am a Swedish, but I do not live in Sweden, can I apply visa in residing country?

A: Yes, you can visit Chinese Embassy or Chinese Consulate in your residing country to apply Chinese visa.

Q: I am a Swedish and want to get married in China, what kind of documents do I need?

A: Going to China to get married with a Chinese citizen, the applicant must present to the Consular Section "Extract of the Population Register" (Personbevis) and "Marriage Status Certificate" (Aktenskapscertifikat) provided by the Swedish tax authority. If the applicant has been divorced, he or she must also present "The Court Verdict of Divorce" (DOM) from a court of law, translated into Chinese.

These documents will be valid in China only after they have been notarized by the Notary Public (Notorious Publics) in a local area and then legalized by the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and finally legalized by the Consular Section of the Chinese Embassy. As to whether these documents need to be translated into Chinese or other questions, please confirm with Chinese local marriage registration authority.

Q: Must I go personally to apply visa? Do I need to make an appointment?

A: You may entrust others to apply visa for you. However, the application form must be filled and signed by your self. And both of you should sign in the application form. You may apply in our opening hours, and no need to make appointment.

Q: I do not live in Stockholm, can I send it by mail?

A: Please see mail service.

Q: Do I need to come by person if I apply for visa, passport, legalization and notarization?

A: If you apply visa or legalization and conform to the requirements for mail service, you may not apply by person. However, for passport and notarization application, you have to apply in person.

Q: We several friends would like to go to China together, can we apply visa only by one person?

A: The application might be submitted in by other person, but the application form must be filled and signed by the applicant himself/herself.

Q: I have applied visa, but I have to change my visit schedule due to some urgent or unexpected things. What shall I do?

A: Once the visa was issued, it can not be extended or changed. Therefore, applicants should be carefully thinking and planning before applying visa. And when fill in application form, you should read every items and questions carefully and give true, correct and complete answers. After you get the visa, you should check carefully every item on the visa to make sure it is appropriate to your visit. If you do change your visit schedule and the visa is not appropriate to you, then you have to apply again and pay the fee accordingly.

Q: I get the visa and arrive in China. But for some reason, I have to stay in China longer than the duration of the visa. What shall I do?

A: You may consult with Chinese local police authorities to apply for extension of visa or reapply visa.

Q: I am a Swedish Chinese, can I apply notarization to Chinese Embassy?

A: We only accept notarization application from Chinese citizens. If you are Swedish citizen, please have your documents notarized by Swedish Notarization office and legalized by Swedish Foreign Ministry before you come to our Embassy for legalization.
